Megabalanus azoricus

It is a common species in the Azores and considered as one of the most appreciated shellfish in that archipelago. They are sessile animals with the calcified exoskeleton composed of several plates.

Conservation Status

Although local stocks appear to be healthy, they have shown some signs of decline.
