The Silver scabbardfish is found mid-water or close the bottom and at depths of between 100 m and 600 m.

Conservation Status

Although once considered plentiful in the Azores, local silver scabbardfish stocks showed a sudden decline in the late 1990’s and have still yet to recover.

The Silver scabbardfish may reach a maximum reported size of 210 cm (8 kg) and has a maximum reported age of 7 years.
